Dear Customers,
Please be advised that Manzanillo Port in Mexico continues to experience significant congestion, despite the strike officially ending on May 30.
Current situation:
The customs clearance rate is only 40% of normal.
Over 2,000 containers remain stranded daily at the terminal.
Only 5 customs officers are on duty (normally 25), causing clearance delays of up to 72 hours per container.
Trucks are still lining up over 20 km outside the port.
How does this affect you?
Extra detention charges may reach up to $500/hour, or over $15,000 per container/month.
Alternative ports like Lázaro Cárdenas are now congested, with inspection delays of 7–10 days.
25% increase in supply delays has been reported by material-dependent customers, with some facing temporary production stops.
We suggest staying in close contact with your freight agents and planning shipments early to reduce delays and unexpected costs.
